November 11-12 (Saturday-Sunday) |
Weekend Adventure to Orange |
Description Meet at Dee Nuckol's place (safe car
parking- 11301 Cedar Glade Lane, Rockville VA 23146) on Saturday November 11 for
a 9 AM departure. We'll be heading North and West toward Orange VA skirting the
south shore of Lake Anna. For the return, we'll hit the saddles between 8:30-9
AM, and head toward Louisa and Hadensville, and then criss-cross Hwy 250 via Three
Chopt back to Rockville. Expected ride time is between 5-6 hours per day.
The routes are approximately 60 miles per day using mostly different roads each
day (loop, not out & back). Expect about 2300 feet of elevation gain daily. Pace
will typically be in the 14-15 MPH (true B) range for the distance- other paces
are welcome.
We'll plan for a couple of store stops (lunch) each day and an overnight at the
Comfort Inn & Suites (breakfast included). I have reserved several double queen
rooms- so please contact me for getting one of them. There are also several Bed
& Breakfast options in Orange, as well as a Budget Inn across the driveway. Bags
will be driven up by Paul Walaskay, so no need to carry gear (they will arrive about
4 PM). Dinner is planned at the Silk Mill Grille. Route slips and GPS files will
be provided to those contacting me.
